About My Japan Planner

Beyond Arrangements.
Meaningful Journeys Through Japan.

Many DMCs can arrange hotels, transportation, and experiences in Japan.

But we believe a truly memorable journey is created through deeper understanding of the people, stories, and values behind each place.

With experience from both sides of Japan tourism, as specialists based in Japan and as professionals who have worked for overseas travel companies creating Japan journeys, we understand both the destination itself and what international travelers truly value.

We bridge local authenticity with a global perspective, carefully curating journeys that connect travelers with the people, culture, and landscapes that make Japan unique.

Our Approach

Thoughtful Curation with Purpose

Every element of our itinerary has a reason. Rather than simply recommending an experience, we believe in explaining why it has been selected.

Why this place?

Why this person?

Why this moment in the journey?

Our role is not to add more experiences, but to identify the right experiences that align with each traveler’s interests, values, and the story we want to create. Through careful selection and deep local understanding, we create journeys where every element has a purpose and every experience feels connected.

Relationships Behind Every Experience

We believe the most meaningful experiences come from genuine relationships. Rather than simply selecting services from a list, we take the time to meet our local partners, visit the places we recommend, and understand the people and philosophies behind each experience. These relationships allow us to introduce experiences with confidence and create journeys built on trust.

A hotel is not selected simply because it has five stars. We consider the vision of the owners, the warmth of the team, and whether the property truly matches the traveler’s expectations.

A craft experience is not selected simply because it is well known. We look for the story behind the craftsmanship, the passion of the artisan, and the connection that can be created between the creator and the traveler.

Journeys, Not Just Destinations

We believe a journey is more than a collection of destinations. Many itineraries focus on where travelers visit, but we also consider how each moment connects. The landscapes along the way, the transitions between regions, and the atmosphere of each place all contribute to the story of the journey. We carefully consider every route, stop, and experience to create a journey that feels natural, meaningful, and memorable.

Travel has always been a part of my life. Growing up in Osaka, I often traveled with my family to places around western Japan, including Kyoto, Shiga, and Kurashiki. Those trips introduced me to the incredible history, culture, and landscapes of Japan from an early age. After moving to Tokyo, I had the chance to explore more of the country and discover the many different faces of Japan.

My curiosity eventually took me overseas. During my university years, I started traveling abroad and quickly fell in love with experiencing different cultures and ways of life. I spent six years living in Canada, as well as time in Nepal, Bali, the USA, and the UK. Living outside Japan gave me a new perspective on my own country and helped me understand what international travelers are looking for when they visit Japan.

Before starting My Japan Planner, I worked for a Canadian travel company and helped establish its local operation in Japan. Through planning trips for travelers from all over the world, I learned that the most memorable journeys are the ones that feel personal and meaningful.

I love creating unique itineraries based on each traveler’s interests, whether it’s discovering hidden gems, meeting local artisans, exploring Japan’s food culture, or experiencing traditions that have been passed down through generations. Tell us what you love, and we’ll create a journey that feels truly yours.

Things that I enjoy

  • outdoor activities (hiking, cycling, climbing, snorkelling, and surfing)
  • dance (Brazilian zouk, forró)
  • yoga
  • going to onsen and sauna
  • watching sunsets

How many prefectures have you visited?

39 prefectures. 8 more to go!

My visit to Dorokyo Gorge left me in awe of its natural beauty. The emerald green waters, framed by steep cliffs and lush forests, created a breathtaking scene that felt almost otherworldly. The highlight of my experience was the boat ride through the gorge. Gliding along the serene river, I was amazed by the dramatic rock formations and the sheer magnificence of nature.

What do you like about Japan?

  • I love how easy it is to get around by public transportation in Japan. I only got my driver’s license last year because, living in cities, I never really needed one.
  • As everyone knows, food is amazing! Quality, price, and the hospitality at restaurants, it is simply incredible.
  • Great healthcare. When I was living in Canada, I could not see specialists without first visiting a walk-in clinic or seeing a family doctor. I am so grateful that I can visit specialists directly here in Japan.

I love planning fun activities and helping people discover the best of Japan. Whether you’re looking for cultural experiences, outdoor adventures, or something completely unique, I’d love to help create a trip that’s perfect for you.

When I was growing up, my family often traveled around Japan. Some of my favorite memories are soaking in the hot springs of Kusatsu in Gunma and going on ski trips to Madarao Highland in Nagano. As I got older, I became curious about the rest of the world and eventually moved to New Zealand. Living abroad helped me see Japan through the eyes of international travelers and better understand what makes a trip here truly special.

I’ve worked in the travel industry since I was 19, traveling with customers and later working for a European travel company. I eventually helped establish its local tour operation in Japan, where I planned trips for visitors from around the world. Over the years, I’ve learned that no two travelers are the same, which is why I enjoy creating itineraries that are tailored to each person’s interests and travel style.

I’d love to share my local knowledge and experience with you and help you create unforgettable memories in Japan.
